It feels right to finish off 2020 blog writing with a review of 2020, and what a year it has been!
In January 2020 we decided it was time to start Bedfordshire Flower School by The Flower Mill as a natural extension of The Flower Mill. Under The Flower Mill umbrella we used to run the occasional flower arranging workshop. With these classes proving popular it only felt natural to separate the workshops into their own flower school.
Always being passionate for learning, I have enjoyed teaching workshops for the past couple of years, and wanted to grow on that idea and create a school where creative flower lovers could come and learn.
Like many businesses we ground to a halt. With the COVID19 restriction we was unable to host our workshops in our studio space, but we continued to keep you educated with regular blogs, DIY how to’s and demonstration videos on social media.
In spring we managed to put together a Flower arrangers journal which so many of you purchased and enjoyed as a mindful pass time over the lockdown period.

Along with our journal we produced a collection of Bedfordshire Flower School products ideal for flower arrangers and budding florists and creatives, such as our Bedfordshire Flower School Starter Kits and Tool Aprons all available to purchase on our online store.
In the summer months restrictions eased and we were able to host classes, operating at half capacity and upholding social distancing rules and extra cleaning measures.
It was so lovely to see regular and new faces trying our classes and enjoying the flowers. We also started to offer a range of co-host creative classes from other local creative small businesses such as Jewellery Making, Calligraphy, Water Colour, Macrame and even Home Made Skin Care products.
During the summer months we work closely with local British flower farms to bring you the most beautiful seasonal blooms to work with.
November introduced stricter COVID19 restrictions and our classes were once again sadly put on hold. With so many of us once again staying home we decided to offer a “workshop in a box “ concept. DIY Wreath Kits, Calligraphy Kits and Snow Flake Decoration Kits all available to purchase from our online store with full instruction for you to complete in the comfort of your own home.
We have so far received so many lovely messages of people enjoying wreath creating in your homes and we have equally enjoyed seeing photos of the finished articles.
As 2020 draws to an end we would like to thank everyone who has supported Bedfordshire Flower School so far! From the class attendees, workshop co-hosts and guests to customers who purchased a Workshop in a box kit or product from our online store and to our social media supporters and blog readers, we appreciate every one of you!
